The F-List for Music is delighted to announce that chart topping hit songwriter Miranda Cooper is to be our 5th President!

Hit songwriter and musical theatre composer Miranda Cooper succeeds media composer Hannah Peel, who held the Presidential position in 2024. Past Presidents of The F-List have included classical composer Professor Shirley J Thompson, Brix Smith of The Fall, and Anoushka Shankar, with each serving a one-year term. This honorary role allows influential musicians to champion and bring attention to the impactful work of The F-List for Music. Founded during the pandemic, The F-List for Music is a vital support network for women and gender expansive musicians. Although ongoing research and statistics emphasise the need for such a platform, it remains the sole nationwide organisation in the UK committed to supporting the careers of women and gender-diverse musicians across all genres.

Miranda Cooper says:

“I am incredibly proud to be named an ambassador for The F List, an organisation that stands for empowering women in the music industry. As a working mum, being part of such an impactful initiative resonates deeply with me, as I have always believed in the importance of championing female talent and amplifying underrepresented voices. I hope we can foster a more inclusive future for women in music, and I am excited to contribute to this important mission.”

Vick Bain, Founder of The F-List says “We are thrilled to announce Miranda Cooper as our fifth President, and we couldn’t be more excited to have her join us in this important role. Known for her chart-topping contributions to pop music, Miranda recently brought her talents to Fantastically Great Women Who Changed the World – The Musical, showcasing her ability to inspire audiences with stories of trailblazing women. Her influence and passion will be invaluable as we continue our essential work, advocating for and supporting women and gender-diverse musicians across the UK. Her involvement helps us drive forward our mission to create a more inclusive and diverse music industry.”

Miranda Cooper

Miranda Eleanor de Fonbrune Cooper is pop royalty – a British songwriter who has penned over 30 UK top 10 hits, including four #1 singles.

Miranda began as a dancer (for Gina G), where she met Brian Higgins, founder of Xenomania, in 1997. They went on to find commercial success and critical acclaim writing songs for Girls Aloud, Sugababes, Pet Shop Boys, Franz Ferdinand, Kylie Minogue, Alesha Dixon, and many more.

More recently, she has celebrated success with rising star Maisie Peters, co-writing “There It Goes” and “The Last One” from her UK #1 album The Good Witch, as well as “John Hughes Movie” from her debut album. She also co-wrote Griff’s debut single “Mirror Talk”.

Alongside her work in pop music, Miranda has also been focusing her talents on writing musicals. Billionaire Boy was the first show she co-wrote; it went on to win the ‘Best Show for Children and Young People’ at the UK Theatre Awards 2018. In 2021, Fantastically Great Women premiered with rave reviews and also picked up the ‘Best Show for Children and Young People Award’ at the UK Theatre Awards in 2022.

Miranda has set up Tilted Musicals with theatre producer Sam Hodges. They plan to bring together the best writers from both the theatre and music industry to create exciting work. Current projects include a one woman show about motherhood, co-written with global pop writers Jon Shave and Jason Pebworth, as well as an adaptation of When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit, and the cult indie film Son of Rambow – both written with her long term Xenomania collaborator Nick Coler.
