‘the garages’ are a queer anarcho-syndicalist band collective under the Northern Ireland label Fourth Strike Records. they make songs about being gay, the apocalypse, and fighting the gods. originating as a group of musically-inclined fans of the Seattle Garages, a team from the internet game ‘Blaseball’, they have grown into a 30+ member international band, with members across the UK, US, Europe, and Australia. the band began in August of 2020 and has now amassed over half a million streams on all platforms, have released 14 albums and EPs, and recently as part of a charity concert raised $2,222 for the charity Child’s Play. all music for the band has been composed remotely, with collaborations made on the messaging service Discord. they have even performed 2 pre-recorded live shows with resounding success, the second having an audience of 5000+ people on Twitch.

‘the garages’ are a variety of genres including punk, lo-fi, grunge, rock, jazz-inspired, and have put out a ska EP and a country/western album.

the garages are comprised of, but not limited to: rain, MQ, yana, zandterbird, june september, INOM, mother love blone, robin (biiiiiird), ethan geller, shout, pat j cotter, Teake, perfected automation, autumn, riley, itsamemitchell, em grace, azuretone, Tegan, AMFSH, Jennifer Cat, henry, slothfella, zack.ry, ACAB Influix, shout, Cass Pain, crabmoney, and Nerdy Sims. Anyone can be a member of ‘the garages’ which has created a diverse and flourishing creative space where both the experienced and complete novices have come together to collaborate, develop, and explore musical ideas. It cannot be overstated how important that is in 2020.
